To see where Adobe is heading, I strongly recommend viewing this webcast from April Seybold Boston. There are even more tricks up our sleeves!
Hypercard rules
A good article on Apples HyperCard. Memories! Even though it wasnt a pioneer, it was before its time. There are many things on the Internet that should be modeled on HyperCard. Standard, English-language scripting; simple object-based metaphor and security.
National Museum of Australia: yawn
Today I visited the new National Museum of Australia. I found it a little under-done. There is no doubt the external architecture is impressive; but the content is limited in range and appeal. If you ever get the chance, you must visit the New Zealand National Museum in Wellington: Te Papa. It is an impressive testament to the New Zealand people that their museum is packed with information, relics and learning that we Aussies are missing.
Adobe support for Apple MacOS X 10
Apple customers: There is an section on the Adobe web site detailing Adobe application support for MacOS X (10.4 support from Adobe applications).
Radio Userland
Starting to spend some time with Radio Userland, a desktop based blogging tool. Having been out of the Userland Frontier loop for a couple of years, its taking time to catch up with the latest goings-on. The aim is to see if I can move to a locally based engine – or create some sort of backend on this server.

Acrobat 5.0
Spent today working with the collaboration features of Acrobat 5.0. What you can do is have a PDF shared between two computers through a web browser. Each reviewer can post sticky notes (or other annotations) to a central server and share the comments; live online. Using the coolness of WebDAV and Apache
Javascript, again
“Javascript is calling me” – with the new version of Acrobat 5.0 and GoLive 5.0 Javascript is calling me – look out for more stuff in coming weeks. I find programming like basket weaving for the mind. A good centering tool – a very zen thing.
Acrobat 5.0 and Prepress
Adobe has announced Acrobat 5.0. For those of you who have attended any of my PDF for Prepress sessions, I have created a 6-page PDF detailing the changes in Acrobat 5 Prepress Features 1.1 world.
Jet planes in New Zealand
Just ran out of Pascall Jet Planes. Last trip to New Zealand I purchased 7 packs. Time to go the expat-order route
